Mumbai Cops Allegedly Thrash Muslim Youth, Dub Them 'Pak Agents'

Mumbai: In an unwarranted event, a city cop has landed himself in a controversy after threatening and beating two innocent college youths throughout the night at the police station. In the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, they were beaten relentlessly for hours by the Bandra Police in the presence of Station House Officer (SHO) Kedar Pawar. No case was registered against them and the police also did not allow them to make phone calls. He said the cops broke up a fight and picked the youths up from Bandra Reclamation at 2:30 am.

"When the youths were brought to the police station on Saturday morning, Asif was shouting and behaving aggressively with the police and boasted his contacts with high-profile and influential Muslim political leaders of the state", the officer said. The inspector with his policemen first asked boys their names and then took them to the police station where they were threatened of sending to Pakistan and were beaten up inhumanly without any fault of them.

Police said Asif was taken to Bhabha hospital for medical examination to ascertain whether his admission was necessary, but doctors there said that his injuries were minor.

He even said that sensing the sensitiveness of the issue, 200 policemen were deployed outside Bhabha Hospital.

"Samajwadi Party activists gathered at the hospital and asked the authorities to admit Asif who was seriously injured".

"DCP Satyanarayan Choudhary has been asked to conduct the probe and submit his report". Since the police refused to register FIR, they approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed who has assured an inquiry in the matter.

According to sources, Asif was hit with belts and batons and Danish slapped and punched, after they fall unconscious, the police finally made a call to their parents to take them back. "They do not have any criminal background and hail from a good family and locality", he said while speaking to Times of India.
