A Palm Beach Gardens police officer fatally shot the drummer of a well-known Florida band who had pulled over on a highway ramp after his vehicle broke down early Sunday morning.

Palm Beach Gardens Police are receiving death threats after the fatal shooting of an allegedly armed church musician rose to national attention and earned the scorn of the police unions president.

The shooting death of a Florida church drummer brings into question the responsibility of the undercover cop, and the risks they pose to Black people. He had just finished a set with his brand .

US representative Patrick Murphy (D-FL), who represents the district where the shooting happened, released a on Tuesday offering condolences to the Jones family and calling for more transparency.

Jones' family, meanwhile, says that the 31-year-old was a "gentle spirit" who was non-violent. That's why we don't understand why anyone would mess with Corey, ' Banks said.

Jones told Huntsberger that his SUV had broken down and asked if he could help, so Huntsberger drove to find his bandmate, who was stranded north of West Palm Beach, Florida, on Interstate 95.

A few observers have speculated that the man, local musician Corey Jones, may have drawn his weapon because he did not know the plainclothes officer was a member of the police force.

'I guess I was the last one to see him, ' Huntsberger .

"I tried to help him the best I could, but I'm not a mechanic or anything", Huntsberger said. It is unclear how the interaction escalated, but the alleged confrontation ended with Raja firing his gun, fatally striking Jones. "He never got into any trouble; he was a very good kid". You need to get out there and address the public.

"I can't explain it. It just hurt man. It's like a part of me is gone", said Sylvester "Tre" Banks III, Jones' cousin.

He went on to say that he has know Jones for 10 or 12 years, that he now can't remember exactly when they met, but that they had played together in church bands on Sundays.

"They're saying he was armed, but I don't know if I believe it", said Huntsberger.
