WEATHER FORECAST: May not get beyond 50 degrees Thursday

Wet, windy conditions are expected to settle over Milwaukee Tuesday and Wednesday before sunshine returns Thursday with continued high winds, according to the National Weather Service in Sullivan. Maine and New Hampshire could see 10-foot waves that cause minor flooding at high tide in cities including Portland.

But the cold front that brought soaking rain to the metro-east will keep temperatures low through the rest of the week.

Rain was moving through several Mid-Atlantic states by mid-day Wednesday, and thunderstorms were expected in a few areas as the storm moved into New England.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Fundy National Park, Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County and Saint John and County warning of the possibility of elevated water levels on Thursday.

The rain will end early tomorrow morning giving way to sunshine. The mountainous areas of Vermont, especially the eastern slopes, are likely to see the most rain. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Residents in Texas were bracing for another flood threat brewing late this week.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 69.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 51.

Temperatures will quickly turn milder by this weekend across the Midwest, with high temperatures rising above average.

The main threat of strong winds will be Wednesday and Thursday from two different sources.
