Cameron To Offer Details Of Britain's EU Reforms In November

"We will refund the energy-intensive industries with the full amount of the policy costs they face as soon as we get the state aid judgment from Brussels", Prime Minister David Cameron told parliament in response to a question on government support for the country's struggling steel industry.

Norway is outside the EU but is part of the European Economic Area, which allows it to trade in the single market. Cameron said Norway paid a hefty fee to the European Union, had no say over rules it had to uphold and was obliged to follow the EU's rules on freedom of movement.

Cameron, who will meet his Norwegian counterpart, Erna Solberg, in Reykjavik, Oslo enjoys access to the EU's single market, but is the largest net contributor to the EU's budget and has no say in the drawing up of rules that it has to obey. It also contributes money to the EU.

"I see a few possibilities to stay within the treaties", Rasmussen said in the interview.

"It is not necessarily a land of milk and honey" The Telegraph quotes a sources as saying, adding that "People need to understand there are significant downsides".

"Despite the claims to the contrary from the Britain Stronger In Europe campaign and David Cameron that do Britain down, we will negotiate our own deal".

Despite technical talks on Britain's proposals for EU reform having taken place since June, the Prime Minister has said he will only provide details of his proposals to fellow leaders in a letter to European Council president Donald Tusk early in November. "You can't have your cake and eat it too", he said.

The Government will legislate to put its agreement with internet companies on family friendly filters into law to protect children from online pornography, the Prime Minister has said.

While some say the "Norway option" is a red herring that few actually support, Mr Clegg argued the country has access to the European trading zone "but have to wait by the fax machine for Brussels to send them the rules".

"The Prime Minister should stop talking Britain down and pretending that the British people have no choice but to accept the supremacy of European Union law".

"Us getting compensation to level the playing field in a competitive Europe isn't going to make us suddenly spend more on energy or increase our emissions", he said. Norway does 2.5 times more European Union trade per capita from outside than the United Kingdom does inwards.

Anti-EU supporters say Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are free to negotiate deals across the world to suit their individual requirements.
