CNN's Cuomo Claims GOPers 'Pandering' on Media Bias, Rubio Cites Benghazi

Unfortunately for the House Republicans, the Benghazi hearing only provided a national stage for the former secretary of state to dispel the notion that she did anything wrong in dealing with the Benghazi attack and enhanced her presidential image. And though tropes such as "terrible things happen in awful places" and "mistakes were made" bring no solace to the bereaved, they are nonetheless true in theaters of chaos.

To a point, that's spot-on: Chairman Trey Gowdy of South Carolina focused on the murders of Ambassador Chris Stevens, foreign service officer Sean Smith and Central Intelligence Agency contractors Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. She faced tough questions on her knowledge of the hours leading up to the attack, requests for stronger security and what she and her office knew before the attack.

Moreover, the terrorists did not even have to go into hiding afterwards, and at least one of them was interviewed by journalists. Maybe a serious committee will ask her someday. "I'm not going to say the word, but he did".

To hear the media tell it, Hillary Clinton came to Capitol Hill as a bullfighter and easily killed the angry bulls of the House Benghazi committee. "But it turned out that a group of Libyans had tried to rescue him, pulled him out of the building and taken him to a nearby hospital where doctors were unable to resuscitate him", Green explained, before making note of one of the first of many conspiracies to arise from the tragedy.

"We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film". However, they gave Republicans a chance to carefully examine what they believe are still unanswered questions regarding the attack. Would you have not followed them? Yet she chose to conduct her official business on a personal email account with an unsecured private server.

On the Democrat side, her poll numbers increased and her campaign raised more money in a single day since the campaign started.

If someone were into conspiracy theories (I am not), they might think the Republican representatives were being paid by the Clinton campaign.

"When you are dealing with the other party in Washington, it's that old saying - you know, you hope for the best, you prepare for the worst", Clinton said. State Department documents confirm this. There has also been considerable debate about whether the attack can be linked to a 14-minute trailer for an anti-Islamic movie titled Innocence of Muslims, which has already sparked protests across the Muslim world. The Democrats and media added that the committee was formed to discredit Hillary Clinton.

The New York Times observed, "The pointless grilling of Mrs. Clinton, who fielded a barrage of questions that have always been answered and settled, served only to embarrass the Republican lawmakers who have spent millions of dollars on a political crusade".

Despite numerous failures by the State Department outlined in each previous investigative report, none so far have been able to assign blame to any single individual for the attack.

By the end of the final hour of probing, committee speculation had not yielded much new information.

Roskam did not mention that Mull went on to write that a no-fly zone, which was Clinton's eventual choice, "was not necessarily a slippery slope", using as an illustration Iraq, where a no-fly zone had been maintained by the United States for 10 years before the U.S.-led invasion of the country in 2003.

While the Clinton campaign stopped short of explicit fundraising tied to her congressional appearance, it mounted an aggressive effort - through email, and - to promote her remarks and undercut her GOP adversaries.

"I did", Clinton shot back. "I can only tell you what the facts are".
