Investigation underway after body found on NJ beach

His body was spotted by a news helicopter and his cause of death is still unknown. He insists, political differences aside, Jeff Radio loved Clayton and always gave 110 percent.

The body has since been identified as 43-year-old Jeff Radio, the one-time mayor of Clayton, New Jersey.

Radio - a 1990 Clayton High School graduate - did not have children in the Clayton School District, but remained a "staunch supporter" of the district's students, Lindenmuth said.

Nancy Althoff Radio’s wife post this message on her Facebook page following the news of Radio’s death

On Sunday, he checked in on Facebook at a casino restaurant in Atlantic City. He was staying in Atlantic City because of the New Jersey School Board Association Conference, according to NJ.com. The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m.to noon, and a memorial service will begin immediately after. After leaving office, he worked as a vice president at Sun National Bank in Maple Shade, Burlington County. Police did not release information on where Radio was last seen.

Radio served as mayor of the Gloucester County town from 2009 until 2012.

An investigation by State Police is ongoing.

"I know that everyone who knew him loved him and will miss him", Radio's wife, Nancy Althoff, wrote in a post on his Facebook page.

"We've gained a guardian angel", said Frank Radio.

"Jeff was a great guy", said David Lindenmuth, superintendent of Clayton schools.

Interment will be at Cedar Green Cemetery, located near New Street and East Academy Street.
