Taurid Meteor 'Swarm' Delivers a Stunning Blue-Green Fireball

But, at an interval of almost 10 years, the Earth transitions through a "swarm" with larger space particles causing the frequent fireballs representing meteors that are extremely bright lighting up our night sky. Nasa Scientists are saying that this year the shower will be even fancier as this year there are possibility of fireballs tearing through the sky. The meteors are known as the Taurid meteors & because of this time of arrival a lot of them are also calling them Halloween fireballs.

Quality over quantity - that's the motto of the Taurids meteor shower, which peaks this week. This kind of an activity from Taurids was last noticed in 2005, and that add excitement to the event.

The Taurid meteor shower is one of the highly anticipated events of year that many look up to.

Also, the comet fragments travel at lower speeds than other meteors as they go through the Earth's upper atmosphere, reaching velocities of just around 17 miles per second.

This shower is linked to happenings taking place on Comet 2P Encke, which is the source of the two Taurid meteor streams. On the morning of November 5, the Moon will be a crescent, and won't rise until after midnight, which means that it won't block out too numerous smaller meteors. All calculations presently point to 2015 as one of these spectacular years.

The Taurid shower has two streams, south and north and these have broken off from the comet at marginally varying times and are therefore with different orbits. The moon will become new on November 11, which will provide us an entire dark night for a few unflawed viewing.

To see the meteor shower, your best bet is to look towards the Taurus constellation, where it originates from.

"The Taurids are not known for their high numbers, rather they are known more for the fireballs they produce", according to a press release from the American Meteor Society. But don't worry, this large debris is nothing to be alarmed about, as NASA scientists explained over on Reddit this weekend.

While it's still not 100 percent confirmed that this year is going to be a swarm year, the only way to find out is to get out there and watch the skies. Here's hoping the predictions for this year's activity come true and we're treated to a few entertaining celestial pyrotechnics through the first half of the month.
