Titanic and The Simpsons rides coming to Dubai!

The 20th Century Fox studio said yesterday (Nov 3) that it would make a new foray into the resort and theme park business, with an opening in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2018.

The upcoming project will be the second 20th Century Fox World theme park and the first Fox-branded resort. The theme park will include attractions based on Fox movies and shows like "Aliens", "Ice Age", "The Simpsons" and "Sons of Anarchy".

Add Fox to the growing list of Hollywood studios that see expanding opportunities in theme parks, especially overseas.

Even though Titanic might sound unconventional, Jeffery Godsick, President of Fox Consumer Products, said: "We are working on creating an immersive experience that includes motion theatre simulators and will allow you to experience what it was like to be on the Titanic in an exciting way". In 2013, it struck a partnership with Resorts World Genting to build a theme park in Malaysia. According to sources, the project is set to cost Dhs3.

Completion of main construction work is due in 2018, Khammas said. In September, Ahli acquired Los Angeles-based social media publisher The Audience and past year bought Singapore's Comicave Studios, which manufacturers merchandise for the likes of Marvel, Warner Brothers and Disney.

California-based Rethink Leisure and Entertainment will design and operate the complex.

"As part of our worldwide deal with Fox, we look forward to building these attractions and resorts globally starting with Dubai as the first location and additional Fox branded resorts that we hope to open across other territories in the future", said Mohammed Khammas, CEO of Al Ahli Holding Group.
