Get your first job through Linkedin Placements

Mumbai: Professional networking site LinkedIn.com on Wednesday launched an exclusive product for India called LinkedIn Placements for students and young professionals in a step towards developing solutions tailored for Indian users.

"Our conversations with students, placement officers and recruiters involved in campus recruitment point to an unmet need for efficiency and effectiveness", he further said in a statement on launching the product.

The unique platform has been entirely built by a local team in India that involved a few 40 employees who handled everything from data science, UI/UX design, product engineering, business development and marketing.

The LinkedIn Placements is initially being launched as a pilot project.

Adding more, the "Placements" service would be efficient for three groups of players - students, placement officers and recruiters.

"This productivity tool has a lot of potential, and there's no better way for students to experience the power of the LinkedIn platform than by leveraging it for their first job". "The product has been developed after 6 months of R&D, and is the first to be totally conceived and developed outside the U.S. and China". Through this product LinkedIn aims to help streamline the process of campus recruitment in India, he said. Also, they can receive updates on their applications in real time.

As many as 14 colleges have signed up for the pilot programme of LinkedIn Placements, including FMS Delhi, Presidency College, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Jain University, Kristu Jayanti College, Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, Welingkar College, DY Patil University, RVCE College, ITM group of Institutions, PESIT College, Mount Carmel College and MIT Institute of Design.

The solution also makes it easier for placement officers to organise all data and take decisions to help achieve maximum placements. Lastly, recruiters will find it easier to post jobs and filter the candidate pool ahead of campus visits, so as to be able to focus on interviewing pre-selected candidates.

LinkedIn Placements can thrive on its existing huge professional network that can be used for benefit by the students and employers alike.

LinkedIn, which operates in over 200 countries and territories, said the total number of members rose 20 percent to 396 million at the end of the third quarter.

The launch of a new product exclusively for India comes at a time when LinkedIn has emerged as the most popular platform for job searches in India.
