Bill O'Reilly SLAMS George Will

You're a hack! You're in the cabal of the Reagan loyalists who don't want the Reagan truth to be told.

When Will called out O'Reilly for not talking to pivotal Reagan administration figures, O'Reilly shot back that he didn't want anyone with "skin in the game". "Did you call me?" O'Reilly called criticism Will's commentary "libel" and questioned his courage to face him on his show. "I have it in writing from Mr. Clemente".

A Fox News spokesperson told CNNMoney that Will is scheduled to appear on Friday night's edition of the "O'Reilly Factor".

Then the two quarreled over the substance of O'Reilly's book, which argues that President Reagan spent the waning days of his presidency watching soap operas as he became unable to carry out the duties of the job.

In his column on Thursday, Will wrote that the memo "included slanderous assessments of the president from a few disgruntled Regan staffers", and had been "refuted by minute-by-minute records in the Reagan Library".

"All of what we write in "" is true".

"It's a memo that you have never seen". The book says Reagan was often addled to the point of incompetence, causing senior advisers to contemplate using the Constitution's 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

O'Reilly maintained such a recanting was done "under heavy pressure". That claim prompted Will to laugh.

The interview ended eventually with O'Reilly repeatedly shouting, "You're a hack!" "Do you deny that?"

"You're something of an expert on actively misleading people", Will said.

It is not a laudatory book.

Will countered, "It is not a laudatory book".

Will said O'Reilly's characterization of Reagan was "doing the work of the left". "Your book does the work of the American left with its extreme recklessness".

Setting the tone for the rest of the interview, Will disputed the claim and suggested O'Reilly got it wrong, adding that "it would not be the first time you've got something wrong". The bickering match between O'Reilly and George Will was a train wreck, but it highlighted the increasing inability of Republican pundits and politicians alike to approach disagreements in a civil manner.
