Bangladesh win toss and bat in third Zimbabwe ODI

Dhaka - The Tigers on Monday sealed the series beating Zimbabwe by 58 runs at the second of the three-match one-day worldwide tourney at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

It was a lively start to the visitors' run-chase, with Chamu Chibhabha hitting a boundary first ball, before being bowled by Rahman with his second.

"The most important thing for us is to pick ourselves up and focus on Bangladesh", Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura said.

Earlier, recalled opener Imrul Kayes hit 76 to give Bangladesh a fighting score on a tricky wicket.

The teams will contest two T20Is at the same venue on Friday and Sunday.

Bangladesh's winning streak began late previous year when they defeated Zimbabwe at home and then posted upset series victories against Pakistan, India and South Africa - also at home grounds.

Bangladesh, aiming to sweep the series, would have expected to score 300-plus for the first time in the series after the start by Iqbal and Kayes on a pitch that was a batting paradise, but Zimbabwe fired back with a flurry of wickets.

For the next six overs, Bangladesh had to contend with a risky partnership between Malcolm Waller and Williams, but Nasir intervened, taking a head-high catch in the covers to dismiss Waller.

The situation worsened when paceman Al-Amin Hossain removed Jongwe on 39 with Zimbabwe 54-3.

Zimbabwe come fresh from a humiliating loss at home to Afghanistan, who won the one-dayers 3-2 and clinched both Twenty20 internationals.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan were instrumental in Bangladesh's comfortable victory.

Zimbabwe batsmen will have to figure out a way to tackle Mustafizur, else the horrors of ODIs will continue to haunt and repeat themselves. Nasir Hossain added 41 while Sabbir Rahman 33 runs.

He flashed medium pacer Luke Jongwe and offered a catch at point to Graeme Cremer.

Although Mahmudullah and Mashrafe hoisted Bangladesh across the 250-run mark, Bangladesh batsmen ultimately failed to utilise the strong base put together by the openers.

Jongwe and Cremer got two wickets each while Tinashe Panyangara (1-49), Raza and Waller had one victim apiece.
