Prince William and Kate Middleton to visit India next year

Reports suggest that this could be the first official overseas tour of the couple after they visited NY in 2014.

The royal couple will carry out a few royal engagements in North Wales on Friday, November 20.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit #India in the spring of 2016, at the request of HMs Government.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and 2, six months, weren't mentioned along with the palace guidance afterwards indicated the kids aren't going to be going together.

Although full details of the trip are to be released early next year. "This is their first visit to the country", a Kensington Palace spokesperson said.

The pair mainly toured NY, although Prince William did make his way to Washington for a White House meeting with President Obama.

The announcement comes at a time Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in London for a three-day visit.

Modi is the first Indian premier to visit Britain in almost a decade but he has faced protests over his record as chief minister of Gujarat - including over riots in 2002 where more than a thousand Muslims were said to have died.

"It was a one-off to take George to Australia and New Zealand a year ago and it is looking highly unlikely they will take their children with them on their next tour", the Palace aide told HELLO! magazine.
