Tottenham star gets worldwide call to replace Manchester City injured

Manchester City midfielder Delph, who has just returned from a hamstring injury, sat out training this morning.

Injuries to Michael Carrick, Jamie Vardy and mostly recently Fabian Delph created a few spaces for Roy Hodgson, which he has duly filled with Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard and now Mason.

"But it is experimental from our point of view, and we have to make sure we play the best the game possible".

"It's going to be a young team tomorrow, I think six players are under the age of 22".

"I would rather have had the players available for Euro 2016 available for this match so we wouldn't have to go too far down the experimental route".

Fabian Delph was today the latest player to be struck down by the England injury curse.

"I've never been in a football game like this before".

And captain Wayne Rooney backed-up Hodgson's stance of selecting those he deems will represent the future of the national team, both at next summer's European Championship and beyond.

"We need to be together and try to put our game-plan into effect because we know it will be tough".
