Bendtner: Denmark Can Reach Euro 2016

Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed he has "sent Denmark into retirement" after firing Sweden to Euro 2016 with three goals in a 4-3 aggregate play-off victory.

Ibrahimovic would add his first goal against Sweden's near neighbours, in addition to his eight in as many appearances during the group stage, after 50 minutes when Forsberg won a penalty.

A minute's silence was observed before Saturday's games for victims of the Paris attacks Friday, one of which was outside the Stade de France where world champion Germany was playing a friendly against France.

Ibrahimovic's goals gave Sweden a commanding 2-0 lead on the night and 4-1 lead on aggregate before a late rally from Denmark saw Yussuf Poulsen and Jannik Vestergaard find the net.

But Nicolai Jorgensen halved the deficit with 10 minutes left on the clock to give the Danes a ray of hope and a vital away goal.

"It's always disappointing to concede a goal", said Sweden coach Erik Hamren. The Sweden captain had never scored against Denmark but made amends five minutes into the second period as Forsberg was tripped by Thomas Kahlenberg and Ibrahimović put the ball firmly past Schmeichel, his 60th global strike. Player now representing the Paris Saint-Germain could have scored the second goal, but he had a goal ruled out for offside as the Danes struggled to score a goal of their own. Christian Erikson is the key man for Denmark and will need a few help from those around him if Denmark are to get the win they need here.

The second leg is in Copenhagen on Tuesday.

This version of Zlatan Ibrahimović is older and worse than the one we loved and feared.

"We have to believe, " Olsen said to www.mx.dk. "I think we have the players who can decide the match in Copenhagen".
