Citing Paris attacks, Jeremy Corbyn retreats from critique of United Kingdom foreign policy

Former shadow housing minister Emma Reynolds said the Stop the War Coalition was "disgraceful" for appearing to blame France for the Paris attacks and called for it to be "condemned".

While Mr Corbyn said that the attacks in Paris were "appalling", he criticised the British media for giving little coverage to recent terrorist attacks in Turkey and Lebanon.

Shadow defence minister and North Durham MP Kevan Jones branded the leader "naive" after a BBC interview in which Mr Corbyn said he was "not happy" with police operating a shoot-to-kill policy should a terrorist attack.

But in fact it was a pointed attack on Corbyn.

"We can only agree to bomb in Syria first of all if there is a United Nations resolution and also, and this is my particular concern, if there is a plan to deal with the refugees that will result from further military action".

"He has to come forward with something constructive to offer this middle England socially conservative vote so they can believe in the Labour Party, vote for us and give us a Labour government".

"The idea has to be surely a political settlement in Syria, but it's very hard to achieve".

"They are not interested in the leader of the Labour Party ruminating about the shoot-to-kill policy".

Labour leader Mr Corbyn yesterday cancelled a speech in which he would have suggested that British bombing operations against Islamic State (IS) had contributed to an increased threat to national security.

Labour MP John Mann indicated to the Daily Politics that he does not have confidence in Jeremy Corbyn.

That decision, backed by their trade union, grounded part of the Chilean air force, led by General Augusto Pinochet, who were helping to kill supporters of the ousted democratic government.

Speaking to the House of Commons, the Labour leader urged Parliament to take more action to clamp down on institutions which provide "vital infrastructure" to the terror group in Syria and Iraq.

He later faced criticism from his own MPs at a party meeting, with one accusing him of "fundamentally misunderstanding" the threat to the UK. "I think that is quite unsafe and can often be counter-productive".

"So, we would have a leadership team of three of which one would be a woman and she would be there in her own right, not appointed by Jeremy".

In remarks to David Cameron in the Commons on Tuesday, McFadden asked: "May I ask the prime minister to reject the view that sees terrorist acts as always being a response or a reaction to what we in the west do?"

"That territory has got to be taken off them, we've got to have an agreement about how to do that".

"I think you have to have security that prevents people firing off weapons where you can, there are various degrees for doing things as we know".
