Chevrolet Volt wins 'Green vehicle of the Year' at LA Auto Show

The Next-Generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt was awarded Green vehicle of the Year award from Green vehicle Journal today at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Compared to its previous version, Chevy Volt 2016 now boosts 53-mile electric range, and can go north of 420 miles on a 1.5-liter engine.

Having set the stage and primed you for the big reveal, here are the 2016 finalists, one last time: Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Honda Civic, and Audi A3 e-tron. "For Volt to stand out in Green Car's evaluation, it reaffirms Chevrolet's commitment to being a leader in electrification".

"Considering all the brands and models evaluated in the award program, that's quite a statement".

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt impressed with improvement in virtually every corner, including an increased all-electric range, quicker acceleration and its weight loss.

This year's LA auto show starts with the Press and Trade Days on Wednesday before it opens to the public on Friday and will run until November 29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Volt will be a cornerstone of marketing campaigns, he said. The nomination is selected by a panel of judges, including on celebrity guest, with Jay Leno appraising that role this year.

During the award's vetting process, Green auto Journal editors consider all vehicles, fuels, and technologies as an expansive field of potential candidates is narrowed down to a final five. Many factors are considered including efficiency, EPA and CARB emissions certification, performance characteristics, 'newness, ' and affordability.
