Obama Says He Will Veto American SAFE Act of 2015

"The SAFE Act allows America to continue its history of compassion toward those around the world without sacrificing our safety and security". "We can not allow any shortcuts when it comes to ensuring the safety of Kansans and the American people". "The president says we are scared of widows and orphans", chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, said.

"With new security considerations following the tragic and cowardly attacks in Paris last week, we must ensure that we have the strongest safeguards to certify refugees are not a threat to homeland security".

And U.S. Sen. John Boozman is predicting that the Senate will pass the same or similar legislation and send it to the president's desk.

It's not Richard Hudson saying that the current vetting process is broken, it's experts from President Obama's administration saying that our government is bringing in these refugees who they can not properly vet. Take Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson who said, "It's true that we aren't going to know a lot about the Syrians that come forth in this process, that is definitely a challenge".

Hill said Thursday's vote "gets the ball moving in the right direction, but it is missing needed provisions that will avoid this same pitfall down the road".

Earlier in the week, Crawford unveiled the Refugee Relocation Security Act, which would block the relocation of refugees from Syria and Iraq to the United States until Congress votes to lift the moratorium set in his bill.

However, Nolan said in a statement that it would not prevent refugees from coming in outright. However, two-thirds of the full House - 290 members - is required to override a veto, meaning the SAFE Act's 289 supporters would need to pick up one extra vote. "That is against our values of who we are as a nation".

"After carefully examining this legislation and the debate around it, it's clear that this legislation will not preclude the United States from accepting thoroughly vetted refugees into the country".

That bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee. "A lot of people have just lost faith that the president is taking these things seriously enough". Rep. Harper said he wants a tougher process in America, but he is concerned with the ability of the refugees' home countries to provide background information on these individuals seeking asylum.

That same day, U.S. Sen.

However, Nolan also pointed out in the same statement that refugees face a uniquely high amount of scrutiny by USA officials already.

"This is something that I believe is fair, and it's a commonsense bill that says, "Look, if you're not sure, then protect your country first", Harper said.
