Sheena Bora case: Financial motive behind murder: CBI

Coming to the defence of former media baron Peter Mukerjea, an accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, for the second time, his son Rahul Mukerjea, said on Saturday that the charges against his father were "outrageous".

Former media honcho Peter Mukerjea will be brought by CBI to its headquarters here in connection with its probe into the murder of his step-daughter Sheena Bora.

Some of documents are already in the agency's possession and may be furnished in the court when the CBI presses for extension of Peter's remand. However, what has left investigators in a fix is the motive behind Peter's attempts to find out Sheena's locations if he was not privy to Indrani's alleged conspiracy to eliminate Sheena.

It said that her mother (Indrani Bora) had Sheena and Mikhail from a man she had eloped with as the family totally disapproved the relationship. When I asked if Sheena was her daughter, she scolded me.

The CBI said that while it had earlier booked Peter Mukherjea under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he had also been additionally charged under Sections 302 and 364, and would be prosecuted accordingly.

The report says that Sheena and Rahul got engaged in 2011 against the wishes of Indrani and Peter and the four had "altercations" over the issue. Khanna used to dote on Vidhie but Indrani did not allow the two to meet.

Other prime accused, Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyamvar Rai, have been remanded to judicial custody till December 3, police said. CBI also revealed that Peter Mukerjea had disclosed during questioning the investments made by him and wife Indrani in UK and India, but did not divulge the source of money. He said that Indrani and Peter had later informed him that the missing person had been traced.

Rahul himself had dropped Sheena off near National College Bandra on April 24, 2012, so that she could have dinner with Indrani - after which she never returned. The charges include those of kidnapping, murder, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and attempt to murder.

"See, I can't give reasons at the moment because I don't want to compromise the case that is being investigated".

Peter Mukerjea was on Thursday by CBI in Mumbai. "In 2009, Sheena started living with us in Mumbai".
