Kiratpur-Manali Highway blocked due to major landslide

A major landslide was on Monday, Dec 7, caught on camera on the Manali-Chandigarh national highway.

Several individuals travelling on the Chandigarh-Manali highway witnessed a landslide as rocks and loose earth collapsed onto the tarmac and the river along the highway.

The entire mountain slid on the road near Hanogi Temple Kullu that blocked Chandigarh-Manali NH21 today. Efforts are on to clear the road. It happened due to tremors felt after a strong 7.2 magnitude natural disaster hits in Tajikistan. It is likely to take more than a day to clear the highway. "Tremors were felt throughout north India after the natural disaster".

The quake - which epicentre was in Tajikistan - was also experienced in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and New Delhi, besides Pakistan.

The quake hit at about 109 kilometres west of the town of Murghob in Tajikistan at a depth of 28 kilometers according to the US Geological Survey said.
