David Headley offers to turn approver in 26/11 case

David Coleman Headley, the 26/11 Pakistani-American conspirator, might be produced before a Mumbai court by video conferencing on Thursday. "I appear here ready to answer questions regarding these events if I receive a pardon from this court", he said.

David Coleman Headley is a U.S. terrorist of Pakistani origin.

Born Daood Sayed Gilani, Headley wrote that he had joined the Lashkar being "impressed with their dedication to the cause of liberation of Kashmir". During his visit, he reportedly drew maps, made videos and also looked for number of places in Mumbai as targets for the 26/11 attacks including the one at the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House.

Headley is also accused of doing recce in Copenhagen for an attack on Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which had published controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad.

Headley was arrested in October 2009 from Chicago while on his way to Pakistan.

While on trail in the United States for his involvement in the Mumbai attacks, Headly had pleaded guilty and turned approver thereby saving himself from a possible death sentence. A USA court convicted him of his role in the terror attacks and sentenced him to 35 years' imprisonment.
