Google use the 'Force' to block 'Star Wars' spoilers

Google are no stranger to Star Wars Easter eggs - use their search engine to search for "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away", for example - but they've gone one further with their latest effort, a free Chrome-based minigame that has you use your phone as a lightsaber.

Google has just announced a brand new Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens browser game for Chrome, and it effectively turns your smartphone into a lightsaber. Lightsaber wielders-to-be then must hold the phone vertically with both hands, then initiate the change with the click of a button that pops up on the . As you move your phone, the lightsaber will move as well.

Once calibrated, you are taught the basics of defending yourself from blasters, as well as deflecting shots back towards your enemies. But your phone doesn't need Chrome for it to work-I used Safari on an iPhone 5S and was waving my phone around like it was a lightsaber in no time.

Are you exhausted of Star Wars yet? No?

The whole setup process is pretty instantaneous and the game looks surprisingly solid. We're also using WebRTC and WebSockets to enable high accuracy, real-time communication between your mobile and desktop devices, reducing latency and improving interactivity.

The experiment isn't Google's first partnership with Lucasfilm or Disney. With Star Wars, Google has already offered features for fans of the franchise by including the iconic text crawl for specific terms and some customizations in some of their apps.
