Thomas Delton Black, Bandmate Of Scott Weiland, Arrested For Cocaine Possession

The surviving members of Stone Temple Pilots (STP) and Velvet Revolver have publicly released about their former frontman and lead vocalist, Scott Weiland, who passed away during his sleep last night (Dec 3rd) while on tour in Minnesota.

Today police said they found "a small quantity" of cocaine in Weiland's bedroom onboard the tour bus.

KNAC.com reports that Weiland was found dead on his tour bus by his personal manager; other details have not been confirmed.

Bloomington police said in a statement they received a call reporting an unresponsive man in a recreational vehicle on Thursday night and that officers who went to the site found he was dead.

A cause of death was not immediately released, but Weiland's struggles with substance abuse were well-known throughout his career. The musician was in the area to perform at the Medina Ballroom with his band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts.

The 48-year-old singer was known for his hits "Interstate Love Songs" and "Plush".

With the announcement Friday of former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland's death, fans posting on social media remembered a time in music that wouldn't have been the same without him.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Officer is now investigating the cause of death.

Weiland's wife, Jamie, confirmed his death to the Los Angeles Times, telling the paper, "I can't deal with this right now".

Weiland then stepped up to front Velvet Revolver, which included three former members of Guns N' Roses, embracing his inner glam rocker. The band had played multiple dates in Austin at South by Southwest a couple of weeks earlier, promoting their March 31 debut album "Blaster".

Prior to his relationship with Wachtel, Weiland had a very public battle with drugs and alcohol.

The bass player has been charged with 5th degree felony drug possession.
