Watch the first minute of the new X-Files

Really it is more of a retrospective than anything else, but if you head over here you can see a look back at basically how we got to the point we are now.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully in a mixture of stand-alone investigative episodes and those that further the original show's seminal mythology.

"The X-Files" returns to Fox with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, January 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC Championship Game, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, January 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

My name is Fox Mulder. He continues: "In 1993 the Federal Bureau of Investigation sought to impugn my work, bringing in a scientist and medical doctor to debunk it, which only deepened my obsession for the better part of a decade". Sure, Mulder recaps the series with photos and documents of some familiar faces, but some ominous smoke and fire could well spell the end for the famous files. Since my childhood, I have been obsessed by a controversial global phenomenon, since my sister disappeared when I was 12 years old in what I believe was an alien abduction.

While on the site, you can also create custom X-Files-themed profile pic for your social media accounts - or, you know, your general enjoyment.

Agent Mulder and Scully will return to the small screen with six new episodes of "The X-Files".
