Minecraft: Story Mode Trailer Introduces its Star-Studded Cast

The next four weeks see the launch of three Telltale episodes, as Minecraft: Story Mode's season overlaps with the finales for the developer's Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands series.

The first episode is now available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 5. In their announcement about the release date of the first episode on most of the platforms, they also said that it will be arriving on the Nintendo Wii U and the PlayStation Vita soon, but definitely later than October 15. The physical edition comes out on October 27 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Story Mode's main character Jesse (which can be either male or female, a Telltale first) is just a regular blocky inhabitant of Minecraft's blocky world, and there are shades of The Lego Movie's Emmet in the portrayal of an average young guy (or girl) simply trying to get by in amongst extraordinary surroundings. He/she and friends idolize a legendary group known as the Order of the Stone: a band of warriors and artisans who famously slew the Ender Dragon. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion. A few of the bigger names include Patton Oswalt, Scott Portier, Brian Posehn, Martha Plimpton, Corey Feldman, and Paul Reubens. In response to the apparent contradiction between making a game that is "an all-ages adventure", and producing something that can only be bought by tenagers and adults, Perusco pointed to the older films that inspired Telltale Games' story.

Minecraft player Jordan "CaptainSparklez" Maron has purchased a Los Angeles mansion worth $4.5 million using proceeds earned from his YouTube video production career, Variety reports.

Although Telltale made their mark with The Walking Dead, most of their previous work had been largely family friendly, starting with the Bone comic book adaptations, the LucasArts-inspired Sam & Max and Monkey Island games, and even a Wallace & Gromit tie-in. Founded in 2004 by games industry veterans with decades of experience, Telltale has quickly become an industry leader with numerous honors and awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, BAFTA, SXSW, the IMGA, and more, as well as being named Studio of the Year across multiple years.
