Los Angeles Kings' Jonathan Quick Saves the Game

As much as the night was about the perseverance of Pearson, who scored his first goal since January 8, it was also about the non-goal and a night of high drama at Rexall Place.

- The Kings have scored four power-play goals in their last three games.

Darryl Sutter the Kings coach said McDavid comes as advertised and that he will be a great National Hockey League player.

- Is anyone going to remember anything but the last four seconds of the game? The Kings allowed 12 goals in their opening three losses but have suffocated opposing offenses since, giving up five during their winning streak.

Just over a minute later, Carter banked in a shot off Talbot from behind the goal line. And because Quick's glove was covering the puck, they had to go with the call on the ice.

- Not a ton of surprises in this one. Benoit Pouliot and Taylor Hall were the goal scorers for the Oilers.

- What else could it be? The explanation is that there was not enough evidence that the puck had crossed the goal line.

This shows what looks like the puck under Quick's glove, and it looks like it's all the way over the line.

Connor McDavid has been as good as advertised since the Edmonton Oilers selected the 18-year-old with the top overall pick of the 2015 draft.

- Tyler Toffoli didn't score.

"œI guess we don"™t have to agree, but it"™s made and we have to move on.". We're playing solid. Our PK, and special teams in general, have picked up the pace.

Tonight's game will be the fifth of this six-game homestand, the longest homestand of the season. We just kind of carried it over. "It felt like we got a lot pucks to the net, and had guys in front of him taking away his eyes but unfortunately we couldn't get one by him".

NOTES: The meeting was the first of five games between the Pacific Division rivals this season. Pearson's goal that put the Kings ahead 3-2, was scored on the power play.

After struggling in their first few games on the power play, Edmonton has started to finally show signs of life on the man advantage.

- The Kings had 59 shot attempts (34 shots on goal, 18 attempts blocked, 7 missed shots) compared to the Oilers' 52 shot attempts. This stretch has been more like a disappearing act with one goal in eight games.
