Scariest Movies Ever for Halloween 2015

But what about something to watch?

What are your favourite Halloween films?

There are thousands of scary movies to enjoy on All Hallows Eve, and CDA News has only scratched the surface of what is out there.

If you're browsing for horror movies to stream, we've got you covered.

"My name is John Norris". The standout entries in these titles are clear ("Amateur Night" and "The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger" from the first film, and "A Ride in the Park" and "Safe Haven" from the sequel), and I can't wait to see what a few of these directors do with their first feature. This t-shirt is one such example, and if you're stuck for a Halloween costume it'll do nicely. Yes indeed, Turner Classic Movies itself broadcast this gruesome gem, which definitely tipped me off to its status as a must see.

After the success of "The Nightmare Before Christmas", Burton decided to make another animated movie. The horror/thriller movie is about a family who gather together for a wedding anniversary when they become under attack by killers in masks.

WALDRON: Let's start with the obvious category.

"Scream": A self-aware homage to all horror films, "Scream" is amusing and scary in turn. A 1967 movie came to the theaters entitled Mad Monster Party. It's about a group of women who are spelunkers. But their common denominator is that they are all good, scary fun.

But with Halloween coming up, we thought we'd give a little shout-out to this impulse, by giving you a comprehensive list of the most terrifying movies up on Netflix right now. Set in middle-of-nowhere Texas, the influential slasher flick follows five young folks on an ill-advised trip into middle-of-nowhere Texas, where they encounter a family whose hobbies include grave robbing, torture, and unconventional power tool use. Yep, creepiest made-for-TV movie ever. Perhaps it was the guy in high school who took me to see the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in hopes I would hide my face in his shoulder and clutch his hand throughout the ordeal. Halloweentown is such a fun, light movie for the holiday. Or maybe he's just a grumpy old man. But you can go to CVS and pick up a back of candy whenever you want. It's one of the reasons I think the James W. Roberson-directed nightmare is not more well known; there's nothing very lovable about a movie that soullessly offs its wholesome protagonists. That's really all you need for Halloween. Just incredibly dead pan and I just wish I could be Gene Wilder in most situations in my life. The vampire in this film feeds on humans - lots of them. How about the best Alaska-made scare flick?

NORRIS: I think 'Moose: The Movie.' It's about a small Alaskan town menaced by a mooseataur, which is like a minotaur but more Alaskan.

The soldiers that are sent to investigate a remote mountain base in 2011's Columbian chiller The Squad are not prepared for what they find, in a thriller that constantly puts you in a position of doubt. How do I really know what to believe? Horror films often incorporate mystery, suspense, supernatural elements, and fantasy in addition to themes that play on viewers' fears. There is a few disturbing imagery in VHS, but it's unique presentation and genuine scariness make this a Netflix horror essential.

WALDRON: Because you're a standup comic, right?

NORRIS: I do that sometimes, yes.

NORRIS: Absolutely, it's a good release. The black and white and the stop motion make the film look spectacular, but like Nightmare Before Christmas it has real heart at the core. You get to see classic horror staples get serviced as well as creative ways to rejuvenate the found-footage genre, whether it's having the camera be in someone's GoogleGlass equivalent, their webcam, implanted in their eye, or even mounted to a person that is in the midst of turning into a zombie.
