Report of Halloween candy with 'needle-type' object probed

They said police had received reports of needles found inside five wrapped bars of Twix candy.

A fifth child came forward at about noon Sunday and said he'd found a similar needle, but this time inside a Snickers bar.

A parent of one of the children saw the post and inspected his children's candy bars, where needles inside snack-size Twix bars were found.

She also wrote that she called Woodbury Heights Police and would bringing the candy to them in person on Monday.

There are no reports of injuries but parents are being urged to check their kids' candy. Additionally, a woman in Minnesota reported finding a needle in a piece of candy her child received on Halloween.

Police in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, about 50 miles west of Philadelphia are investigating reports of needles found in Halloween candy.

An NBC Charlotte viewer from Dallas, North Carolina sent in a photo of what look like thumbtacks stuck inside a candy bar her grandchild got while trick-or-treating.

But one reported incident of a foreign object found in candy in Auburn, Mass. went viral but turned out to be a hoax. The police are old parents to check all candy their children are given.

Investigators noted that it is unknown if the candy was tampered with by a local individual, or during a few other level of the distribution process.
