Bernie Sanders introduces his 'Real Change' message to TV

The Sanders campaign will spend over $2 million airing this ad in Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton wishes to allow citizens to choose and raises concerns on an expanded socialist health care system, anxious that the overall standard of care will decay if Sander's plans come to fruition.

"Too many Americans have seen their lives destroyed because they have criminal records as a result of marijuana use", Sanders said to loud applause.

He signed the cast on 9-year-old Kaylie Milton's arm at a barbecue in Iowa City but did not spend any time courting her father, who said he was torn between Sanders and Clinton.

Part of the need for a "political revolution" is the lack of voter turnout in America, according to Sanders. The idea that there should be less shouting in the conversation about gun violence is a recurring theme for Sanders, one that goes back months.

At a recent town hall in New Hampshire, a voter remarked: "I come from a generation where that's a pretty radical term - we think of socialism (with) communism".

"Virtually everything - nearly everything I tell you that I support today, is supported by the vast majority of the American people", he said.

"Unfortunately, rhetoric DOES NOT save us, nor does it give confidence to black voters that we can trust Hillary to prioritize the necessity of ensuring our safety", the group said. "I thought she was the one", said Brigid Ernst, also of Altoona.

"My greatest embarrassment, as a member of the United States Congress right now, is that we have a major political party, the Republican Party, who refuses to listen to what the scientists are saying", Sanders said.

Likewise, Trump, Carson, and Sanders have won high marks from voters for being blunt and plain-spoken, but that's not a reliable guide to whether they would be good at the job.

Hillary Clinton, the clear frontrunner in the race, has been running ads in Iowa and New Hampshire since August.

The protesters drowned out Clinton's speech, even as others cheered for Clinton and chanted, "Let her talk, Let her talk".

The question gave Sanders a chance to refine a statement on gun violence that was turned against him in the Democratic debate with Clinton: "All the shouting in the world is not going to ... end this disgusting violence that we are seeing".

Sanders was asked about Clinton's old ties in the state, and whether it was truly a level playing field.

"Through no fault of his own, people don't know what to make of it", said Gina Glantz, manager of Bill Bradley's 2000 presidential campaign.

The next Democratic debate is November 14, two weeks away. Clinton's approach has been considered "hawkish", with proposals to call for a no-fly zone in Syria and add further pressure on Iran to disarm its nuclear capabilities. "I think he thinks he has a realistic shot at catching up and winning the nomination and an even better shot at winning the general election". "I suppose that could be characterized as a protest candidate, but I suspect that he just wanted to put a few issues on the table and also try to pull Clinton back to the left".

While knocking on doors Saturday evening with his grandson and two granddaughters, a woman ran into her house to grab something and returned with the Bernie Bear, a stuffed critter with unruly white hair and a Bernie 2016 button on his suit jacket.

"Sometimes my words have been mischaracterized", Sanders said.
