When Will Tony Romo Return for the Cowboys?

When Tony Romo first took over for an ineffective Drew Bledsoe back in 2006, he immediately became the savior at quarterback that Dallas Cowboys fans had been waiting for ever since Troy Aikman's retirement a few years earlier.

Being placed on IR-DTR means he will be unable to play until Week 11, when the Cowboys travel to face a rejuvenated Miami Dolphins team. The Cowboys play a much-needed divisional match on Sunday Night against the Eagles next. It is clear that Romo is doing everything he can to get back on the football field.

The past six weeks for the Dallas Cowboys have been very rough to say the least.

There are no good options in Dallas right now, not until Tony Romo returns in Week 11.

In Cassel's two starts this season, he has thrown for a combined 324 yards with one touchdown to three interceptions. Romo will be at risk for re-injury, but the Cowboys' quarterback situation is a mess. He was a bit reckless with the ball at times, but his improvisational skills and accurate arm finally gave the team a chance to win ballgames.

Romo sustained a fractured collarbone during the Cowboys' Week 2 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

A solid running game saddled with an anemic passing attack and leaky defense that allows 27 points per game while forcing almost zero turnovers is not enough to win games. The Cowboys are 0-5 without Romo this season, and 0-6 without Romo in the past two seasons. He had five receptions for 48 yards against the Giants in the first game of the season before getting injured.

Was backup quarterback Brandon Weeden going to set this team up for the postseason? Why did the Cowboys make a move to bring in Cassel, rush to get him to understand the playbook and throw him in there so quickly? Otherwise, they've had second-half leads in all four games - and critical letdowns at key points from all three phases of the game.

The other sign of hope for Dallas is that their remaining schedule gets a little easier, at least compared to the teams they've lost to.

The Cowboys feel very confident that when the time arrives, Romo will be able to play. Seattle actually went into the fourth quarter, leading 10-9, and tacked on a 24-yard field goal by Steven Hauschka with just over five minutes left to play. The Dallas Cowboys owner further noted, "But Randle has been with us going on his third year, and we'll take that into consideration as we look at it. Let's look at the whole picture and how things have evolved".
