France vs Germany: German national team evacuate Paris hotel after anonymous

At about 2pm local time (2am Saturday NZT), the team bus drove out of the tennis complex and made it back to the nearby hotel after police cordons had been removed and the road reopened.

The national team was forced to leave its hotel shortly after 9 a.m. CET (0800UTC) on Friday after the bomb threat came through an anonymous telephone call.

A spokesperson for the hotel to The Local that the bomb threat had been received and that hotel management had evacuated staff and guests from the hotel in line with safety procedures.

Currently, there is no indication whether Germany's friendly fixture against France is in doubt, but both teams will of course want to keep their players and fans alike safe from any suspicion of harm.

DFB security officer Hendrik Grosse Lefert told the DPA news agency: "The French police informed us that an anonymous bomb threat has been received".

On Friday evening the German national team are playing against France in a friendly as part of the build up to the European Championships 2016 which are being held in France.

Assuming no threats are uncovered, the squad is then expected to return to the stadium to pick up match equipment, before travelling to the Stade de France for the game.
