'Spectre' smashes records at United Kingdom box office

BusinessInsider reports that the first email coming from Barbara Broccoli, daughter of James Bond movie series creator Albert Broccoli wished that Sony increase its $18 million marketing budget for the Spectre with bigger payments to the cast and crew for using its smartphones.

The picture also established a new Imax record, nabbing the highest per-location average in company history with $105,000 in 47 theaters.

The new James Bond "Spectre" movie box office haul was a record-breaking $80.4 million since its domestic release last October 26, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Both offers were rejected by Bond actor Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes, after judging the phones to be too lackluster for Bond. The film also set a new record in Denmark for the biggest three-day opening of all time, as it took in 28.1 million krone ($4.21 million), also surpassing Skyfall.

It's not for want of trying, either, given that 647 cinemas hosted the film on 2500 screens in the United Kingdom, ensuring that the thriller will go down as the widest release of all time across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Craig and Mendes' creative differences with Androids didn't ultimately matter, however, since Bond does in fact use an Android phone in Spectre-specifically, Sony's Xperia Z5. It's up to $3.9 million. In Sweden, the film generated almost $3 million.

We'll see if Spectre can surpass the previous film Skyfall, which was the highest grossing 007 film in the franchise's history - taking in $1.1 billion worldwide!

Bond himself, Daniel Craig, looked suave as ever in a charcoal gray suit with a light blue tie, and co-stars Lea Seydoux and Naomie Harris looked absolutely stunning in red and gold dresses respectively.

Campaigners in Mexico, where the opening scenes of SPECTRE were filmed, have criticised the Mexican government for offering tax incentives to the makers of the latest Bond movie.
