Dallas misses out on hosting Copa America Centenario

"Levi's Stadium was created to be a home for iconic sports and entertainment events so we're honored to be selected as a host venue for one of the world's most storied soccer tournaments", 49ers executive Al Guido said in a statement. On the East Coast, Gillette Stadium in Boston, MetLife Stadium in NY, and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will host.

Copa America Centenario will be held June 3-26 in 10 cities, but no schedule has been set to determine which cities will get group or knockout stage games.

The games for each venue have not yet been announced; however, Orlando would likely be a top candidate to host Brazil and Colombia. Officials said they would release more ticket information in the coming weeks.

The historic 100th anniversary event marks the first time the Copa America has been staged outside South America, with its 10 nations joining six from North America in an intercontinental showdown.

Chile's football team players wave at the crowd from the bus that takes them to La Moneda presidential palace in Santiago, on July 4, 2015 during the celebration upon winning the Copa America 2015.

One of the largest soccer tournaments in the world featuring a few of the top worldwide sides is coming to Orlando. But it may be even more important for U.S. Soccer, which will serve as the local organizing committee.

Bisignano estimated that the Copa America games would generate 40,000 hotel-room nights and $30million in economic impact for the Orlando region. The cities and venues for the opening game and the final were not announced.

From CONCACAF, host US and Mexico are automatic qualifiers, while Costa Rica (2014 Copa Centroamericana winner) and Jamaica (2014 Caribbean Cup winner) qualified this fall. Another two representatives from North America will make up the competitors after playoff matches in January. Trinidad & Tobago will face Haiti, and Panama squares off against Cuba with the winners qualifying for the Copa America Centenario. Uruguay has been crowned champion of the Copa America a record 15 times, while Chile won its first title at this past year's edition, which it hosted.

Mexico and the US are the giants of CONCACAF, but CONMEBOL includes a few of the greatest soccer powers with a few of the brightest stars in the world.
