A Man Conference Is Where David Vitter Is Spending His Election Eve

Vitter has been buffeted by an old prostitution scandal.

Stephen Colbert examined the hate being stirred up by politicians against Muslim refugees: "This kind of selective immigration is nothing new".

For those seeking a reason not to vote, it's easy to say a vote would not count, but we have a couple of exhibits to the contrary lately.

Larry Wilmore shamed the sports fans who have yelled out inappropriate stuff during observations for a moment of silence at the stadiums.

Vitter said, "I would convene a commission on streamlining and building excellence in higher ed. Because we can do better there; we can combine programs there; we can procure goods and services there as well, and that has to be part of the solution".

"The latest poll is 4 points", Vitter said. "Our turnout is going to finish strong and that's how we're going to win".

Stephanie Hebert, 57, a Republican insurance company owner in Houma, thought about sitting out the runoff but will support Vitter. Two weeks ago, Republican Matt Bevin was predicted to lose the governor's race in Kentucky by double digits.

The issue has heated up in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks in Paris.

Although, polls show recent discussions about Syrian refugees is turning more conservative voters back toward Vitter. The Republican has consistently tried to tie Edwards to President Barack Obama.

Edwards, who previously had said he would work with the Obama administration on the refugee issue, now favors a pause in the refugee program. He has accused Vitter of mischaracterizing his position.

"In the primary, we had eight different entities blasting away at me", Vitter said. "We're reciting his words". Vitter said state politics breaks down like this: About a quarter of voters are black, with a slightly larger proportion Republican. The rest of the electorate - white Democrats and independents - decide elections. Charter school and voucher advocates also prefer the Republican over Edwards, who has voted against charters and vouchers as a member of the Legislature.

Robert Mann, journalist and political historian, said that he feels that while college-aged voters are rightly concerned about higher education spending, they shouldn't judge the candidates based on this issue alone. "And as they focus in our our proven records - me on the right, him on the left - they're coming our wave in droves".
