With Romo's return near, Cowboys release Weeden

After suffering a broken collarbone in Week 2, Romo has missed the team's last seven games.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said Wednesday that his team has "very little room for error" for the rest of its season if it hopes to make the playoffs, reports ESPN's Todd Archer.

-QB Brandon Weeden was released by the Cowboys and claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. They now travel to the Sun Life Stadium in Miami to face the middling Dolphins (4-5) on Sunday for a Week 11 meeting.

"I think no one thought we'd be in this position and, you know, we are", Romo said. If they keep winning, they might win the whole f***ing thing. The offensive line is going to have to be the same offensive line that dominated past year so that Darren McFadden and the running game can take pressure off of Romo. Most 2-7 teams would start turning their attention towards college prospects as they prepare for one of the top picks in the draft, but not these Dallas Cowboys.

Nevertheless, a lot of loads is being placed on Tony Romo's shoulders - one of which is healing and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback says more susceptible to being injured again.

Last week at Philadelphia, Suh had his best game since signing a $114 million, six-year contract with Miami. So, I don't want to single him out because I couldn't tell you if last week we had four or five other people late that might get fines.

"I think the fairer statement would be we're going to be more ourselves because we've got our starting quarterback back in the mix", Linehan said.

Dolphins interim head coach Dan Campbell has first-hand knowledge of what Romo is fully capable of doing in Sunday's game.

Having Romo back on the field and being optimistic is exactly what the Cowboys need right now. We're trying to provide the right opportunity for him, the right structure for him, the right environment for him to play his best and to be his best. Unfortunately for Dallas, though, is the Indians never had Greg Hardy to deal with. Upon his return, it's likely the Cowboys will have an advantage at quarterback in each of their remaining games, excluding the matchup with Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers. Bryant also recently returned from an injury suffered in the opener but has dropped three passes on 33 targets - a 9.1 percent drop rate - compared to a 3.7 mark over the previous two seasons.

Weeden was replaced by Matt Cassel, who lost four straight.
