Ringo Starr is auctioning off Beatles memorabilia

Over the years, Beatles' memorabilia has brought in a significant amount of money at auction houses, and now, Ringo Starr is getting in on the act.

 were in possession of the first four copies, and now the #1 is going under the hammer at Julien's in Beverly Hills between December 3rd and 5th, alongside a mass of other belongings of Starr and his wife Barbara Bach.

Ringo Starr is auctioning off more than 1,300 items from his personal collection of artwork and heirlooms, including the first pressing of The Beatles' 'White Album'.

John Lennon's 1964 Rose-Morris Rickenbacker, given to Starr in 1968. Bidding on the record starts at USA $20,000, but it is estimated to fetch up to $60,000.

The album, listed on the website of LA auction house Julien's, has already received three bids, with the current bid being $42,500 (£28,202).

In 2009, an original pressing marked No 0000005 sold on eBay for over $30,000 (£19,000).

Starr is also auctioning off many items of jewellery, as well as art, clothes and instruments, including George Harrison's Gretsch Tennessean guitar, which is expected to fetch up to $200,000.

 

All proceeds from the auction sale will go to Ringo's charity Lotus Foundation to "fund, support, participate in and promote charitable projects aimed at advancing social welfare in diverse areas".
