Suspected ISI Agent Zafar Khan Arrested in Kolkata

He is now in police custody.

Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police arrested one suspected ISI agent over espionage on Saturday.

Apparently, Zafar Khan is the brother of Akhtar Khan, who was final week arrested by the police on comparable fees. Like Akhtar, Zafar too was the resident of the colin street residence from where Akhtar was arrested.

Even though Akhtar had managed to mislead his interrogators for some time, he gave in on Sunday evening and revealed about his brother's involvement.

"Though it's not clear, since 2008, Akhtar has been travelling to different states of India".

"High-quality FICN (fake Indian currency notes) seized from him may have been brought in from across the border with Nepal and we are looking for those who have helped him in bringing FICN here". A number of classified documents were also recovered from the house. We believe they were trained and sent back.

Kolkata Police officials suspect these three links acted as "information carriers" and smuggled in money through hawala channels. The sleuths came to know that lots of business transactions were routed through several bank accounts in foreign countries.

STF was conducting searches in and around the city for Khan's accomplices.

"There can be more people involved with these two persons".

Asked whether the arrested person is a Pakitan citizen or is from the city, the STF officer said: "He can be a Pakistani, but it's still under investigation..."
