Clinton attacks Sanders' health plan

The Democratic front-runner said Sanders' approach would "eliminate" major pieces of the health care system, including private insurance, Medicaid, the Tricare system for veterans and other coverage.

O'Malley and Sanders want $15 an hour. "In this capacity, I came to know her as a smart and driven advocate, whose thoughtfulness and deliberation helped to advance justice and the rule of law in a time when African Americans and women struggled daily to attain the freedom and equality enshrined in our constitution".

Labor unions are closing ranks around Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

At the first Democratic debate in October, Clinton name-checked Gillibrand, who has endorsed her campaign and attended the debate on her behalf. "What we think distinguishes Hillary Clinton is she understands home care and child care work in her bones".

All together, the former secretary of State has endorsements from a dozen national unions with millions of members, her campaign said.

O'Malley slammed what he calls Clinton's "crony capitalism - of the new, by the few, for the few", and said that he, instead, subscribes to "traditional fair market American capitalism", where Americans are not "on the hook as taxpayers". Democratic Socialist candidate Bernie Sanders criticized Clinton's vote to authorize military action in Iraq, maintaining that the move "unraveled" the Middle East region, the Christian Science Monitor reports. Clinton apologized for any misconception, but didn't back away from the comment.

The New York Times editorial board late Sunday accused Hillary Clinton of dodging a question on whether Wall Street money would influence her policy decisions as president, and for offering the "cynical" response that those donations poured in because she represented New York during 9/11. "I don't see tax-rate increases involving anyone other than people making a lot of money". Patricof, co-founder and managing director of Greycroft LLC, wasn't sure what to make of Clinton's suggestion that she has a good relationship with the financial industry because of terrorism. I like how you stand up. My proposal is tougher, more effective, and more comprehensive because I go after all of Wall Street not just the big banks. Clinton stuck to a proposed $12 limit. Sanders will address how the US can lead the world in defeating the jihadist Islamic State and provide a long-term strategy to promote a safer and more peaceful world.

While Clinton has indicated support for the group's efforts, she has declined to throw her weight behind a $15 federal minimum wage. A main takeaway among the crowd after the debate concluded was undoubtedly the civility with which the candidates interacted - a stark contrast to the bombast and personal attacks of their Republican counterparts during recent GOP debates.

I did not watch Saturday night's Democratic debate as it happened.
