Rahul Gandhi should give proof in Parliament

The Congress president had addressed a conference of women empowerment and party workers meeting in Guwahati.

Parliament witnessed disruptions over the National Herald case this week after a Delhi court asked Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to appear on December 19 in the National Herald case.

"People only talk about GST and parliament but there are also several other measures for the poor that are pending in parliament".

The BJP spokesman asked Congress to allow Parliament to function normally and allow passage of important bills. On the issue of "intolerance", Irani claimed, no one returned award if something went wrong during Congress' regime.

Naqvi accused the Congress of posing as a barrier in the country's development with its repeated chaos in the Parliament over this issue.

About two dozen Congress Rajya Sabha MPs exhausted themselves out shouting slogans for almost an hour against PM Narendra Modi over National Herald, in a fitting birthday gift to party president Sonia Gandhi, who turned 69 on Wednesday.

To a question on why the government is not taking action on the National Herald issue or against Sonia's son-in-law Robert Vadra, he said the matter is in court and law will take its course. In fact, in stoking a clamour over the court summons to the Gandhis, the party may be lending substance to the charge that for the party, the Gandhi family has always been, and continues to be, more equal than others.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have to appear in front of Court in National Herald Case.

"By making these comments, they are actually insulting the judiciary of this country", he said. Reiterating that the court order something to do with the ruling party, Rhaul told reporters: "This is their way of doing politics". He told media over that the GST debate could have to wait for the set of issues that the Congress plans to raise first in Parliament over the coming days. Truth will come out in the end.

If so-called "common citizens" can, and are, obliged to answer charges made against them in the courts of the land, should politicians be exempt from this obligation on the grounds that they are the targets of a political vendetta?

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge accused the government of "intimidating the opposition".

He further escalated the attack on the BJP Government, saying they know who is actually threatening the judicial system of the nation.
