Miss Universe: Miss Colombia's gracious response after being mistakenly crowned victor

Steve Harvey announced the wrong victor at the 2015 version of the beauty pageant.

The pageant host, United States comedian Steve Harvey, announced that Miss Colombia Adriana Gutierrez won the coveted crown, but moments later corrected his mistake, giving the title to Miss Philippines.

"I have to apologize", he said, while standing next to Arevalo.

Vergara, a Colombian-American actress, 43, has supported Gutierrez online by posting a photo of her brief moment with the Miss Universe sash alongside the caption: "La Reina de todos modos".

It was about as awkward as live TV could get - wiping away tears of joy, Miss Colombia was still blowing air kisses to fans when the host interrupted the celebrations to say he'd made a mistake.

Finally, she approached Gutierrez-Arévalo and stood by as last year's victor, Paulina Vega, took the crown off of Ms. Colombia and placed it on her head.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that 1969 Miss Universe victor Gloria Diaz called for Harvey to be fined $100,000 for the error.

"It's very 2015", she said.

"I will take responsibility for this", said Harvey.
