Miss Universe 2015: Miss Philippines, Miss Colombia Didn't Speak Yet After

The show closed with a painful shot of Colombia's Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo having the crown and given to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Not only did Steve Harvey pull an all-time boner by awarding the winner's tiara to Miss Colombia by mistake, now it turns out that the behind-the-scenes maneuvering between contestants for the crown got pretty catty as well.

Harvey's blunder was reasonable given that he was hired to host the contest "at the last minute", a source told Radar Online. "I'm in shock - what just happened there?" said Carolina Cruz Osorio, a model and television presenter, who was hosting the show in Colombia.

]The tweet was quickly removed. A woman stood in between the two contestants, trying to comfort Gutierrez by rubbing her back. Colombia was listed as the first runner-up, and he'd been confused with how it was written. "It was my mistake, it was on the card", he said.

Wurtzbach is the third Filipina to be crowned Miss Universe, ending a 42-year drought for the country. Awful mistake... Please don't hold it against the ladies.

"By Monday, the hashtag #Lacoronaserespeta "” "œthe crown must be respected" "” was the trending topic in Colombia as social networks seethed with memes and conspiracy theories. This page criticized our very lovely Miss Guatemala Universe 2015, Jeimmy Aburto, for her costume, as well as being an insult to our culture and our seamstresses of Mayan background.

A composed Miss Colombia later had a message for her fans who voted for her and said, "everything happens for a reason...". "It took away from the experience", said the country's last Miss Universe, 1973 victor Margie Moran. The previous Miss Universe on NBC, in January, reached 7.7 million people.

It was the first edition of the annual beauty show since it was thrust into controversy when then co-owner and USA presidential candidate, Donald Trump, made disparaging remarks about immigrants.

"œDonald Trump must be overjoyed that as soon as he sells the pageant it goes off the rails," it read.

"œI want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia," he wrote. And a transcribing error caused the wrong author's name to be announced for a National Book Award in 2011. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.

Be Civil - It's OK to have a difference in opinion but there's no need to be a jerk.

"We apologize for the inappropriate comment toward our brother nation, Guatemala, and we ask for unity for all of Central America".
