President Obama and Hillary Clinton Top Poll for Most Admired People

Hillary Clinton was the most admired woman, with 13 percent. Clinton won for the twentieth time, at 13 percent, while Malala came in at only five percent. Once in 1988, 1990, 2011 and now 2015.

"Americans usually name the sitting US president as the most admired man. The only men to win the distinction at least four times were all presidents". Ronald Reagan was on the most-admired list 31 times, and ex-President Jimmy Carter has appeared 28 times (but not this year).

Gallup conducted its poll December 2-6, interviewing 824 Americans over the age of 18.

First lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey tied for third. With her 14th time at the top, Clinton set the record for number of years leading the list, for either men or women.

Former president Dwight D. Eisenhower was named the most admired man 12 times, the only man to be named more than eight times.

Gallup called Trump's showing "surprisingly strong", explaining that because he has been in the news so much, he was likely "top-of-mind" for many Americans. Thirteen percent picked Clinton and 17 percent picked Obama.

Among men, Vermont's Bernie Sanders, a Democratic presidential contender and a U.S. Senator, was the only man from the region to make this year's list, ranking fourth behind Donald Trump. But in 2015, Billy Graham was again among the 10 men most admired by Americans, the Gallup polling organization reported Monday. Former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, tied with Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson and two others for 6th. Donald Trump, 5 percent. Sen.

President Obama has been named the most admired man a total of eight times. Elizabeth Warren, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former AlaskaGov. The overall margin of error is plus or minus 4 percent.
