Badgers look to contain Wisconsin-native Stone

The Terps went into Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, got a late push from the Badgers, then walked out with a win after Trimble sauntered up the floor, took his time, and cashed in a 25-foot victor right in Zak Showalter's face just before time expired. Assists_Maryland 10 (Trimble 5), Wisconsin 8 (Koenig 3).

That's when Melo Trimble dribbled out the clock at the top of the key, pulled up from way downtown, and knocked down the game-winning three with one second left, giving the Terps a 63-60 win over their Big Ten foes.

Nigel Hayes led the Badgers with 17 points, while Ethan Happ added 16. Koenig ended up with 13 points and 6 boards. Trimble the hero. He finished with 21 points and five assists. Freshman phenom Diamond Stone continues to impress as the reigning Big Ten Player of the Week added 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks to post his second double-double in his last three games. But Trimble followed with his cold-blooded game-winner to give the Terps the road win. Junior forward Robert Carter contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds for Maryland. But while Happ looked strong and the Wisconsin defense was even better, the Badgers couldn't capitalize too much, missing shot after shot. Wisconsin falls to 9-8 overall, dropping their second in a row in conference play following a one-point loss to in earlier in the week. Trimble, a bona fide All-American, has lifted the third-ranked Terrapins to a 15-1 record, the best start to a season in school history.

Melo Trimble has done a lot for the Maryland men's basketball team, but nothing so dramatic as this. Stone, who garnered Wisconsin co-Mr.
