Mahindra Supro Van launched

Van can be used either in a five-seat layout or in an eight-seat layout depending on the requirement.

The Supro van is priced at Rs 4.38 lakh (ex-showroom Thane, Maharashtra) and is targeted at the tours and travel segment and large families. Mahindra has also launched a one tonne payload commercial vehicle called the Supro Maxitruck with prices starting at Rs 4.25 lakh for the BS III version. "A true "Make-in-India" vehicle platform, both the vehicles are all set to redefine their respective categories".

Built at Mahindra's state-of-the-art plant in Chakan, Maharashtra, the Supro platform has undergone rigorous and full test cycle runs and has been validated on all performance, safety and reliability parameters.

Additionally, both the Van and Maxi Truck get a 2 year / 60,000 km standard warranty.

This vehicle rivals the Tata Ace and the Tata Ace Mega and is positioned right between these two. Unique features of the Supro include air-conditioning, electronic power steering, bottle holder and a mobile charging point. Mahindra claims a fuel-efficiency of 23.5kmpl.... A versatile vehicle, the Supro Van will source business from various segments. The other catchy things about the Maxi truck are an air conditioner, power steering and a best-in-class mileage of 22.4kmpl.

The Supro small commercial vehicles are the second such attempt by Mahindra to challenge Tata Motors' Ace family of vehicles in the goods and passenger carrier segment.

Pravin Shah: We have spent Rs 120 crore so far on the product development and the new Supro platform.

The company plans to export both the products to the right-hand drive markets in the SAARC region, besides South Africa where it already has a presence.
