Arkansas vs. Missouri Prediction, Game Preview

The rain never let up Friday at Razorback Stadium.

Before each season, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel sets a list of goals for his team that he calls pillars. He retires as the school's winningest coach.

But it's undeniably sad that Gary Pinkel had to go out like this. As the players lifted the tearful legend off the field on their shoulders, I began to feel tears beginning to well in my eyes as well.

But thanks to a notoriously slow start and some rather bad luck at times, Arkansas (6-5, 4-3) is yet again going to finish as a middle-tier team in the final SEC rankings.

Arkansas will really, really miss Brandon Allen.

The teams are 1-1 against each other in SEC play, including the Tigers' 21-14 victory in Columbia, Mo., last season. All of the Razorbacks scores came on the ground. After forcing a pair of three-and-outs by Arkansas on its first two drives, Mizzou promptly allowed three touchdowns to the Hogs by the end of the first half. The Tigers did appear to gain some offensive rhythm in the second quarter, but their 63-yard drive only resulted in a field goal.

In addition to his joke about cleaning out his office in the morning, Pinkel also showed a lighter side while talking about Arkansas coach Bret Bielema. That extended the lead to 28-3. "Against the home-state team and all the friends and family watching, it was awesome just to get in the zone".

Good win by the Hogs, and they have a chance to improve on last year's record. "After awhile they started getting slower and holes started opening up good". Otherwise, it will be the 191st and final game of Pinkel's career at Mizzou. On third and 14, Allen stood in the pocket and took a lower-leg shot from Kenya Dennis as he found Dominique Reed for a 15-yard reception. Alex Collins only managed 53 yards in the game while the team had 73 yards total.

It shouldn't be too hard since the Tigers have only won one conference game this season, a 24-10 victory over SC.

"It is going to be interesting to see".

Missouri freshman quarterback Drew Lock completed 9 of 27 passes for 83 yards. They held Missouri to 171 total yards, and kept the Tigers on the sideline. Earlier this month the Missouri football players announced via that they would not participate in team activities until the university president was removed from office. Hill, MU's associate head coach, will oversee the program until Rhoades hires Pinkel's successor, a process that's reportedly taking Rhoades to the head coaches at Toledo and Temple for interviews.

Arkansas fans said goodbye to 17 seniors, including quarterback Brandon Allen.

"I'd love to have him back, but I think he wanted to look into his opportunities", Bielema said.
