HSC results released at last

The Riverina's public school students have ranked among the highest achievers in the state for this year's HSC. At the awards ceremony in the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, NSW Education Minister, Adrian Piccoli, said all schools needed to do more to lift student performance, urging "even high-performing schools like James Ruse to strive for more high-performing students".

"It's a big day, it's been a big thirteen years at school and this day is a culmination of all those years and I wish them all the very best in whatever they might choose to do", he said.

"They're extraordinary results this year, 79 of our students got band sixes... over 53% of our students got over a band 5 or 6", Ms Marshall said.

For many students, their HSC results lead straight into further study based on their ATAR ranking, which is released tomorrow.

Mr Collins said, "I hope all students are satisfied with their results and I thank them for the contribution they have made to our school communities. The HSC is not the be-all and end-all".

The official HSC certificates are due to arrive by post from January 20.

The Board of Studies will be available by phone from 8am for students with questions about their results.

Students can also access their results online from 6am via Students Online or one of the HSC delivery sites, www.hscresults.nsw.edu.au or www.hsc-results.nsw.edu.au, using a student number and HSC PIN.

ATAR results will be released at 9am on Thursday.
