Police officials are satisfied with Holtzclaw verdict

Attorneys for several women who accused a former Oklahoma City police officer of sexual assault asked a federal judge on Monday to allow a civil case to move forward now that a jury found him guilty of rape and other charges.

Kim Davis, the lead detective in the case was felling awful for his family.

The allegations against Holtzclaw have brought new attention to the matter of sexual misconduct committed by the law enforcement officials.

The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of 18 counts connected to eight of the 13 women, and acquitted him of 18 others. He said that it was brutal, but he thinks justice was served. All 13 victims testified during the trial, each with similar stories of rape, sexual assault, and threats if they did not comply with Holtzclaw's demands. Ligons, whose report launched the police investigation into Holtzclaw, said he picked the wrong lady to stop that night.

Holtzclaw's reign of terror targeted Black women in the rough neighborhoods he patrolled.

We understand that there were other women who called before [Ligons], whose calls went unanswered. She said that Holtzclaw firstly asked her if she had been drunk, then ordered her into the back seat of his squad vehicle and asked her to perform oral sex.

The jury convicted Holtzclaw of first-degree rape, second-degree rape and sexual battery in the girl's case. Numerous women who were the victims had arrest records or some had histories of drug abuse.

The city opposes a class-action suit and denies it failed to properly supervise or investigate Holtzclaw.

Another victim, Shardayreon "Sharday" Hill reported that she was handcuffed to a hospital bed when Holtzclaw "started to manipulate me".

According to the Associated Press, the lawsuit, which names Holzclaw and the city of Oklahoma City as defendants, has been transferred from Oklahoma County to U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City.

Holtzclaw, who turned 29 on Thursday, was a former college football star who joined law enforcement after a brief attempt at pursuing an NFL career.
