Taiwanese to get first look at HTC Vive VR headset

The developer is going all out in its support for the HTC Vive and SteamVR, for example, offering full Room Scale user tracking support, combined with its Blink locomotion solution in which players can essentially teleport themselves around an environment.

Both HTC and Valve, the two companies behind the development of the HTC Vive have yet to truly get into why the headset's launch had been delayed until well into next year.

The HTC Vive is a tethered headset, meaning that it requires a connection to a high-end computer. The headset was supposed to be released this month. HTC Vive won't be available till April next year, but the interested customers can book the device in February. However, an announcement by HTC earlier this wee said the release of the Virtual Reality head gear will be pushed back to April of next year.

According to Taipei Times, CEO Cher Wang pledged that the company will make an additional 7000 HTC Vive developer kits prior to its official release date.

If you love virtual reality experience and want to buy HTC Vive, you can pre-order the device in February 2016.

Since the headset was unveiled, the company has been distributing a large number of HTC Vive Developers Kits to encourage content creators and developers to produce content around entertainment, education, gaming, medical industries and other interest.

Tech Times reported that HTC will be hosting a developer conference in Beijing come December 18. It's not yet clear when the following episodes will be released, though Cloudhead Games is also planning to release the title on the PlayStation VR HMD for PlayStation 4, which arrives in H1 2016.

Demonstrations of the VR headset are then set to take place at global events, including the Sundance Film Festival, the SXSW Music Festival, the Mobile World Congress, HTC said.
