Don Brown Hired as Michigan DC: Latest Comments and Reaction

According to Thayer Evans, Michigan will hire Boston College's Don Brown as its new defensive coordinator.

Brown spent the last three seasons as Boston College's defensive coordinator, and the Eagles defense finished first nationally in total defense this past season, allowing 254 yards per game. The next-lowest scoring team was Wake Forest, which scored 120 points in eight conference games. The only defenses to allow fewer points per game were Wisconsin, Ohio State and Alabama.

Brown, a MA native, has been coaching since 1982 with just about all of his time being spent in the northeast (he coincidentally spent two years at Maryland).

Brown's Boston College defense was incredible in 2015. In 2000, Brown returned to the head coaching ranks at 1-AA Northeastern - he went 27-20 over four seasons with the Huskies.

The position opened when D.J. Durkin left to take the Maryland head coaching job in early December and U-M's defensive line coach Greg Mattison is running the defense for the upcoming January 1 Citrus Bowl against Florida.
