Emirates announces expansion of Airbus A380 network

Dubai-based Emirates Airline has announced it will begin A380 service from Dubai to Birmingham starting March 27, and to Prague (Czech Republic) and Taipei from May 1, 2016. Beginning 1 May, 2016, the daily Emirates Prague-Dubai route, operating as EK 139, will depart Dubai at 09:05 and arrive in Prague at 13:30.

Travelers from Emirates' East Africa destinations Entebbe, Nairobi, and Dar es Salaam can in 2016 look forward to four more current destinations out of Dubai being upgraded to Airbus A380 flights. The A380 has 40 percent more usable floorspace than the Boeing 747-8. As passenger numbers have risen, Emirates has added more aircraft to the route, including a third daily service introduced this year. "Deploying larger capacity aircraft, such as the A380, also helps us to efficiently meet growing passenger demand in these markets, contribute to tourism development and enhance customer choice and options".

Emirates is far and away the biggest customer for the superjumbo, with 140 on order, of which 71 have joined the fleet. Since Emirates launched is first A380 flight in 2008, the aircraft has flown over 42 million passengers, covering more than 630 million kilometers. "Not to Australia, because here we would not have the range to operate it nonstop (with a dual-class A380)", he said.

"We are very pleased with the decision of Emirates to increase the capacity on its Prague-Dubai route, which will soon be operated by an Airbus A380".

In Taiwan, Emirates will up-gauge its service to a two-class A380 service, representing a 44 per cent increase in capacity. EK40 will depart Birmingham at 14:20hrs and arrive in Dubai at 00:35hrs (+1). Emirates flight EK366 will depart Dubai at 04:35hrs and arrive in Taipei at 16:50hrs the same day.

As with all Emirates flights, passengers enjoy the extra generous Emirates baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class (only available on the Boeing 777 service). The A380 is hugely popular amongst our passengers as it provides a unique level of service that has become synonymous with the Emirates brand.

It also offers access to the world's only onboard shower spas for first class passengers and an onboard lounge, where first class and business class passengers can socialize.
