Man jumps off chairlift into tiger enclosure in Henan zoo

Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged showing the moment a man jumped out of a chairlift into a tiger enclosure.

Tragic pictures showed the 22-year-old cowering against the wall of the enclosure as the tiger, named Jijay, approached.

Security cameras at a zoo in China captured the less-than-graceful "somersault" of a visitor who jumped from a chairlift to the tiger enclosure below.

A zoo employee was able to isolate the tigers in another area before climbing onto the net and helping him get down safely. The man's reasoning for the risky stunt then became clear.

"When I was trying to save him on the net, he said to me that he "didn't do a good somersault". Police said the man could face a charge of disturbing public order.

He allegedly told officers a thrill of excitement overcame him as he was passing over the enclosure, motivating him to jump down.

In the same year, a school student was attacked and killed by a white tiger after he fell into an enclosure at a New Delhi zoo.
